The kit featured in this sample pack is a beautiful 7-ply shell Ludwig® Classic Maple 3-piece (kick, 2 toms) with an iconic black oyster pearl finish.
Although this one is slightly bigger in size, its lineage can be traced back to that now-famous kit Ringo Starr played on the Ed Sullivan Show back in January, 1964. We chose it because it not only looks great, but it sounds absolutely amazing. It's warm, projecting and resonant.

Our drummer Jesse played multiple articulations on each kit piece, at multiple velocities.
For each articulation, there are up to 9 velocities. And each velocity has multiple Round Robin alternate hits (labeled as RR1, RR2, RR3, etc), giving you plenty of variation.
Regarding those articulations - the hats alone have an astonishing 13 types of hits - not only covering different areas on the hat, but at various open & close stages for each area as well!

We recorded the drums at the ultra-modern Sweetwater Studios facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana recently. Sweetwater Studios offers three world-class rooms designed by acclaimed recording studio designer, Russ Berger. Artists such as Anthrax, Mr. Big and Counting Crows have all recorded at Sweetwater Studios.
We tracked the drums in their largest room – Studio A – a big, 29’x 26’ live room outfitted with a gorgeous Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console - along with a plethora of vintage & modern microphones, EQs, pre-amps, processors, and outboard gear. We've captured the warmth and resonance of this special room - giving these drums a big, projecting sound.
